Big trees, delivered and planted
A big tree does in a day what a sapling takes ten years to do. Pick yours in our yard, and we’ll deliver it and plant it right.
Pick it in person
Our yard at 404 Fairground Rd, Suite H, in Front Royal is open weekdays for walk-ins, no appointment needed. Walk the rows, see the real canopy and trunk, and tag the tree you want. We’ll hold it for your install date.
- Shade trees: oak, maple, linden, elm, zelkova, from 2 inches to 8 inches and up in trunk size
- Flowering trees: cherry, dogwood, magnolia, redbud
- Evergreens: spruce, arborvitae, holly, cryptomeria, from 6 to 12 feet tall

What “big” means
Shade and flowering trees are sized by caliper, the trunk’s thickness measured 6 inches above the ground. The nursery standard calls for about 10 to 12 inches of root ball for every inch of caliper, so a 3-inch tree should come with a root ball about 30 to 36 inches across. When you pick a tree, look at the root ball. A properly sized ball is one of the best signs it will do well.
How we plant
- 811 first. We place the Virginia 811 call before we dig.
- The right machine. We plant balled-and-burlapped trees with our compact excavator, which digs a wide hole and sets heavy root balls without dragging them.
- Wide, not deep. The hole is two to three times wider than the root ball, and the root flare sits at ground level.
- Mulch like a donut, not a volcano. Two to four inches over the root area, pulled back from the trunk.
- Watered in. We water every tree in and give you a watering plan to follow.
Pricing, plainly
Prices on our availability list are for trees you pick up at the yard. If you’d like us to deliver and plant, installation for balled-and-burlapped trees is 75% of the tree’s price, plus delivery. A deposit reserves your tree and install date, and the installation cost is due when the job is done.
Questions we get
Can I pick up a tree myself? Yes. Our listed prices are pick-up prices. Bring a truck or trailer that can carry the root ball, and we’ll load it for you.
When can you plant? Year-round. Fall and early spring are easiest on a new tree, but we plant in every season. Trees planted in summer just need closer attention to watering for the first few weeks.
