If you’re lining a lane, pick the whole row in one visit and see the trees side by side. Shade trees such as oak, maple, linden, elm and zelkova run from 2 to 8+ inch caliper.
Prices on the availability list are pick-up prices, so bring a truck or trailer that can carry the root ball. A 3-inch tree has a 30 to 36 inch ball. For a full lane, let us deliver and plant: installation is 75% of the tree’s price, plus delivery. A deposit holds your trees and your install date.
Move a tree you already have
Sometimes the right tree is already on the farm, just in the wrong place. Our tree spade is a Bobcat TS36M on a skid steer, compact enough to reach tighter spots than a truck-mounted spade. It digs a cone-shaped root ball up to 36 inches across, for trees up to about 3.5 to 4 inches thick. We dig the new hole first with the same spade, so the tree drops into a matching cone, and most moves on the same property take a single day. The best window is while the tree is dormant: late fall, after the leaves drop, to early spring, before the buds swell.
