Tree planting in Warrenton and Fauquier County
Fauquier County is home to one of our biggest jobs: a 4,000-tree bare-root planting in Warrenton. We’ve also planted in Delaplane and Markham, just over the mountain from our Front Royal yard.
Privacy trees for open land and country roads
Much of Fauquier County is open land, and a house near a country road can feel on display. Privacy trees fix that without a fence. We plant evergreens that already stand about 6 to 12 feet tall, so a Warrenton screen starts working the day it goes in, and it stays green all winter.
Good screen trees from our rows include Green Giant arborvitae, spruce, holly, cryptomeria and Southern magnolia. Mixing two or three kinds is smart: if one has a bad year, the whole row doesn’t. Need a long run of one kind? We can order evergreens from our supplier year-round. On open ground, a staggered row does double duty as a windbreak.
Before we plant along the road
Set the row back from the road so the trees have room to spread and stay out of the way of mowers and plows. Keep the view clear where your driveway meets the road, so you can see traffic coming. We call Virginia 811 before we dig, but 811 doesn’t mark private lines like septic fields, irrigation or invisible pet fences, so point those out.

Big plantings on open land
For large plantings, we prep the ground with a tractor and tiller, then plant seedlings with a tractor-pulled mechanical tree planter. That’s how we put 4,000 trees in the ground in Warrenton. For farms and country homes around Delaplane and Markham, we bring big shade trees, privacy screens and tree-spade moves.
